MOTS-c
A peptide the mitochondria themselves encode.
- Mitochondrial signalling
- AMPK activation
- Insulin sensitivity
- Exercise capacity
What it is
One of the few peptides encoded by mitochondrial rather than nuclear DNA. Studied for metabolic regulation, insulin sensitivity and exercise capacity.
How it works
Activates AMPK, the cell's low-energy sensor. That is the same pathway exercise and caloric restriction work through.
How it is taken
Subcutaneous injection, typically a few times per week in cycles.
